And now for something completely different
Holly took this photo of my son, Hayes, and me. I have an old digital Fujifilm camera from 2006 that she’s really taken a liking to. It’s fun to see her take an interest in what I do for a living, especially considering it was her that got me started in the first place.
I push for sincerity in all my shoots and most of my clients have probably heard me say “Okay, let’s get personal”. I guess it’s only fair that I hold myself to that same virtue, so, okay. Let’s get personal.
This year has been complicated. It has been stressful, rewarding, frustrating, joyful, fun, infuriating, and honestly more than I feel like processing at the moment. HollyPop Photography has grown in the last few months and while I’m extremely proud it’s also overwhelming to realize that I’m close to quitting a safe (but unbearable) job in pursuit of this dream of mine. I feel like any day someone will call my bluff and say “Wait, you can’t do this. Not you.”
But towards the end of this year, that’s mostly faded. I am extremely proud of my portfolio and the shoots I’ve done this year. I’m grateful for my family, who are my biggest fans and supporters, I am grateful for everyone that has let me into their lives to take their photo, and I’m just grateful to be here. Thanks for being here, hope to see you soon.
